Cheeky Cody Bush Valade

When Cody moved in on 5 May 2020, he was skin and bones and deathly ill.

Fast forward 3 years and 3 life saving surgeries and countless sleepless nights, he has my heart and brings great joy to our family.

This little 2kg Yorkie began living a big life with his adopted brother Yoda.

Yes, 5 years ago little Cody arrived in our family and hearts. He was at deaths door after almost 5 years of working as a breeding dog.

Looking back at all the surgeries and special care needs, it has been quite a stressful journey with him.

He was super protective of me and would bite anyone coming close, even Paul. Yet, if I left the

room, he would happily sit with the person he just tried to nibble! Cheeky!

We tried specialist training, treat training, all of it - and that part of his personality and behaviour never changed. So, we moved into acceptance. What a teacher of unconditional love he is.

Just over a year after Cody arrived, we got him Yoda as a companion and that calmed him and helped with some of his behaviour issues.

Cody loved walks, steak and took his naps very seriously. He was known to 'yell' at you if you disturbed his sleep. He took a long time to nest and get his blanket 'just right', so rightly so he got grumpy if after all that hard work he had to abandon his rest and be on guard duty again.

He was my Mother's Day gift in 2020 and just missed being with us for one more Mother's Day 2025. He got his wings on May 8th, and it was peaceful, calm and in my arms.

Paul and our boys thank you for all the support, prayers, messages, flowers and cards we received.

So many of you reached out and even though Cody nipped a few of you with his gums, you understood the bond we had with him, and we always appreciated your tolerance and kindness with his unique personality and health issues.

Little Yoda is doing well and soaking up the extra attention.
